Emerald Cruises is the contemporary brand of the Australian-owned Scenic Group, founded by Glen Moroney. Emerald built its name first on the rivers of Europe and Southeast Asia, where its purpose-built Star-Ships established a style of modern, informal, value-conscious cruising, and for most of its life it had no ocean-going ship at all. That changed in March 2022, when Emerald Azzurra entered service as the brand's first ocean vessel. She is a small luxury yacht in all but name: 5,315 GT, about 100 guests in some 50 suites, most with balconies, and facilities, including a marina platform for swimming and water sports, arranged for warm-water cruising and small ports that large ships cannot use. Her sister Emerald Sakara, launched in 2023 at 5,175 GT, repeated the design almost exactly. The third ship in this directory, Emerald Kaia, launched in 2025, is a larger development of the concept at 7,232 GT, carrying about 128 guests. Together the three yachts mark Emerald's deliberate move from river operator to ocean cruise line.
