Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line was incorporated in 1996 as the Walt Disney Company's own cruise operation, created after years in which Disney had offered sea holidays through a partner line. Its first purpose-built ships, Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, established the formula: classic ocean-liner styling, with raked funnels and dark hulls, combined with family entertainment drawn from Disney's films and characters, and spaces divided carefully for children, families and adults. The eight ships in this directory trace a steady growth in scale. From the original pair at about 83,000 to 84,000 GT, the line moved to the larger Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy at almost 130,000 GT, then to the Wish class — Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny at about 144,000 GT — and finally to Disney Adventure, at 208,108 GT by far its largest ship.
