Built by Fincantieri at Sestri Ponente, Genoa, between 2019 and 2024, the four Lady-class ships all measure exactly 108,232 GT and were created for one operator only: Virgin Voyages, the start-up line they were designed to launch. Everything about the class breaks with cruise convention. The ships are adults-only, there is no buffet and no main dining room — instead more than twenty eateries are included in the fare — and the interiors were styled by a roster of land-based designers as a boutique hotel rather than a traditional liner. Headed by Scarlet Lady, the class even put the first tattoo studio at sea aboard, underlining how completely the design was aimed at travellers new to cruising.
