Ambassador Cruise Line is a British cruise line launched in May 2021, the first new British cruise brand in more than a decade. It was founded by a management team drawn from Cruise & Maritime Voyages, which had ceased trading during the pandemic, and it set out to revive that company's formula: traditional, good-value cruising for a British, adult audience, without the waterparks and resort apparatus of the large contemporary lines. Ambassador's fleet was assembled entirely from classic secondhand tonnage. Its founding ship, Ambience, entered service with the line in April 2022. Launched in 1990, she began her career as Princess Cruises' Regal Princess, spent thirteen years as P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific Dawn, and brought a Renzo Piano-designed profile to her new role. Ambition, launched in 1999, joined as the line's second ship, a smaller companion of 48,200 GT. The third entry in this directory, Renaissance, launched in 1993, began life as Holland America Line's Maasdam and reached the Ambassador group through its French partner operation. All three are mid-sized ships of the 1990s, refitted for another career.
