Costa Cruises

Costa Cruises traces its origins to Genoa in 1854, when Giacomo Costa founded a business trading olive oil and textiles that later became a shipping company. Passenger service began after the Second World War, and in 1986 the company took the Costa Cruises name as cruising became its core business, building a reputation as Italy's principal cruise line with a distinctly Italian style in its food, design and onboard life. The eight ships listed here show the modern, large-ship fleet that followed. They range from the 92,720 GT Costa Deliziosa to the 186,364 GT Costa Toscana, and fall into clear generations: four Concordia-class ships including Costa Serena and Costa Pacifica, the Dream-class Costa Diadema, and the LNG-powered Excellence-class pair Costa Smeralda and Costa Toscana, the largest ships the line has operated.
