The Sphinx class is AIDA Cruises' defining fleet of the late 2000s, built entirely by Meyer Werft in Germany and delivered between 2007 and 2012. Ranging from 68,500 to 71,304 GT across seven ships, the class grew in two clear steps, from AIDAdiva, AIDAbella and AIDAluna to the slightly larger AIDAblu, AIDAsol, AIDAmar and AIDAstella. All seven were built for a single operator and remain with AIDA, giving the line a notably uniform core fleet. Their shared design put AIDA's informal, resort-style cruising into a consistent mid-size form: the same basic ship, refined gradually across six years of orders rather than reinvented, and still forming the backbone of the fleet alongside the line's later, larger generations.
