Cruise ships of the 1990s

The 1990s list holds 73 ships and shows cruising scaling up across almost every segment. Mainstream newbuilds move decisively past 70,000 GT, then past 100,000 GT, as repeat classes replace one-off designs and allow lines to build sister ships quickly for growing fleets. At the end of the decade the Voyager class resets expectations again, introducing a scale and density of onboard attractions that would define the next era. The list is not only about size, however. Luxury ships, sailing vessels, coastal ships and small expedition craft all survive alongside the megaships, and several 1990s hulls later found second careers with new operators. It is the megaship decade, but also the decade cruising became a repeatable, class-based industry.
